How to connect your Paycor account to Guideline

Updated this week

There are several steps you'll need to take to connect your Paycor account to Guideline.

The process to set up your Paycor integration involves two parts. These are also outlined in the onboarding task.

  • Part 1: Input provider login credentials and authorize Paycor to provide Guideline with access to your data

  • Part 2: Create deductions manually in the Paycor

For the benefit setup process, you will need to go through the setup flow, which will be available through a task in your dashboard. Below you can find instructions on how to integrate your Guideline account to Paycor.

Paycor-Guideline integration: Part 1

Step 1

A. From your sponsor dashboard, start the “Connect your payroll account” task.

B. Review the steps in the following screen that detail how to connect your Paycor account with Guideline. Click “Start setup,” and you’ll be taken to your Paycor login page.

Step 2

Sign into your Paycor account by entering your username and password.

Click “Sign In

Step 3

Consent to Guideline accessing the required permissions by clicking “Next.”

Step 4

A. Select the payroll account you wish to connect to Guideline.

Notes:

  • Only one payroll account can be selected per Guideline connection task/plan. If you have more than one payroll account that includes common law employees, please reach out to our Sponsor Support team.

  • The selected payroll account must have the same EIN as your Guideline plan.

  • You can confirm your plan’s EIN in the “Settings” section of your Guideline dashboard under “Company Information.”

B. Read and acknowledge Paycor’s Terms of Use by checking both boxes. Then, click the ‘Integrate’ button.

Adding deduction codes

The below deduction codes are required to ensure a successful integration.

  • 401k

  • 401k Roth

  • 401k Loan

  • 401k Roth Loan

  • Employer 401k Match (if applicable)

  • Non-elective Contributions (if applicable)

Return to the payroll connection task in your Guideline dashboard. If you have existing 401(k) related deductions already created in Paycor, you will need to tell us what those codes are within the payroll connection task. Otherwise, follow the instructions in the task to create the deduction codes.

Step 1: Entering deduction codes in Guideline

Within the “Create a pre-tax contribution deduction” screen, complete items 1-5.

Step 2: Entering deduction codes in Paycor

Click the “Paycor deductions” box to open your Paycor account in a separate window.

Example: Create the 401(k) deduction code in Paycor by entering the same naming conventions in the boxes with an asterisk, then click “Save.

View completed deduction code and click “Save.”

Connection Complete

You have completed your part of the payroll connection process!

The task in your Plan Sponsor dashboard will show as “Complete” with a green check mark once the payroll connection is complete.

You’ve successfully set up your Paycor-Guideline integration.
