When will adjustments made on payroll records be reflected in Guideline?
When will adjustments made on payroll records be reflected in Guideline?
Updated over a week ago

There may be cases where you need to make changes to payroll records after the payroll has already been run. How those adjustments need to be processed and when they will be reflected within Guideline depends on how soon after the original pay date the changes took place.

The information in this resource is applicable to changes processed within the following payroll providers:

  • Gusto

  • Justworks

  • Quickbooks

  • Proliant

  • Paylocity

  • Rippling

Within 5 days of the original pay date

Changes made to payroll records that are completed in payroll within 5 days of the original pay date will be automatically captured by Guideline. As a part of this automatic process, Guideline will adjust 401(k) contributions as they are shown on your payroll records.

You should expect to see the changes processed in Guideline within 1-4 business days after the corrective adjustment is completed with your payroll provider.

More than 5 days after the original pay date

If the adjustment is completed in payroll more than 5 business days after the original pay date, any changes to 401(k) contributions will not be captured and processed automatically by Guideline. In cases where changes to 401(k) contributions are necessary, please contact Guideline directly for assistance.

Please note, there are very specific IRS rules regarding when 401(k) contributions can be adjusted and Guideline is required to comply with these regulations. You can learn more about common scenarios and what adjustments might be necessary here.
