How do I sync my Guideline account to a third-party financial management app?

If you use a financial tracking app to manage your finances, here's how to securely connect your Guideline account.

Updated over a week ago

If you’d like to track your Guideline retirement account in a third-party financial management app, like Wealthfront or NerdWallet, you can do so securely using a unique system-generated password.

System-generated passwords add an additional layer of security by limiting third-party access to your actual Guideline login information and data.

How to access your system-generated password

To retrieve a unique password for your personal financial tracking accounts, click on the drop-down menu under your name in your Guideline dashboard. Access the Account settings page, then go to the Financial app access section and click the "View password" button.

Next, access the financial app you'd like to connect your information to. When the app asks for your login details for Guideline, simply enter the email you typically use to log into Guideline and the unique system-generated password.

Using this information within the third-party app will not affect the actual password you enter when directly logging in to Guideline.

What if my app won't connect to Guideline?

While Guideline cannot guarantee third-party syncing will work properly with all financial management apps, there are some tips we recommend.

If you're having issues connecting your Guideline account to your financial tracking app or the information syncing is not correct, please review our third-party app troubleshoot tips.

If you decide to connect your Guideline account to third-party financial apps, the information we disclose to them for this purpose may also be subject to the third-party’s privacy policy.
