Mobile app FAQs
Where can I download the Guideline mobile app?
The Guideline app is available on both the App Store® and Google Play Store.
Who is the Guideline app for?
The Guideline mobile app is for our 401(k) participants. Once you become eligible for and claim your 401(k) account, you can access your account in the app from your iPhone or Android device. You’ll be able to set up your new account, enter important details, and start saving for your retirement directly from your phone.
For existing participants, you can monitor and manage important features, from your contributions to your portfolio and more.
How do I get started?
New participants
If you are new to Guideline and haven’t previously set up your 401(k), you’ll want to refer to your Guideline welcome email to initiate your enrollment. Look for the subject line titled, “[ACTION REQUIRED] Set up your {company name} 401(k).” If you can’t find this email, your company’s plan administrator can send you a new one. Feel free to share these instructions on how they can do so.
Upon clicking the enrollment link in the invitation email, you’ll be directed to where you can download the app (if you haven’t done so already). Then, you’ll be guided through a simple onboarding process, enabling you to select a portfolio, set your contribution rates, and more — right through the mobile app.
Existing participants
If you already have a Guideline account, you can log in using your Guideline username and password. The first time you access the app, you’ll be guided through a short workflow where you’ll set up your login preferences, such as facial recognition or fingerprint, and two-factor authentication.
How do I know my account is secure?
At Guideline, account security is one of our top priorities. That’s why we’ve made it easy for you to enable protective features, such as biometric and two-factor authentication, to securely access your account via your mobile device.

Am I required to download the app to manage my account?
While the mobile app will make it easy to access your Guideline dashboard on the go, everything is still available from the web or desktop version. You can continue to manage and monitor your account, even if you choose not to download the app.
Why am I having trouble logging in?
There are a few reasons why you may not be able to log into the Guideline app:
You haven’t claimed your account: You’ll need to access the welcome email to claim your account first. You can then complete the account setup process directly in the mobile app or by using the enrollment link within that email. You won’t have access to a Guideline account until this step is complete.
Your password or two-factor authentication is not working: If you're having issues with your password, select the “Forgot password?” link on the login page of the mobile app. You can reset your password on the desktop version, as well. If you're having trouble with two-factor authentication (2FA) check out our troubleshooting tips.
Your app is out of date: As we release new features and updates, new versions of the mobile app will become available. If you’re unable to access the current app, visit the App Store or Google Play Store to confirm it’s up to date. If not, try downloading the newest version and logging in again.
There’s an error: If you’ve tried the above remedies and still can’t access your account through the app, feel free to contact Participant Support. To speed the resolution process, please include the following:
Your Guideline account ID
Make and model of your phone (e.g., iPhone 14 Pro or Samsung Note 9)
The Guideline app version
