Here are answers to common questions about Guideline Pro given Guideline’s acquisition by Gusto.
What payroll providers will Guideline Pro permit for new 401(k) accounts?
After November 3, 2025, if your new client uses Gusto payroll or any of the Gusto Embedded Payroll partners (e.g., HR For Health or HiBob) – they will continue to have an integrated 401(k) experience. For all other payroll providers – it will be a self-service 401(k) experience.
Will Guideline Pro continue to work with accounting and financial professionals?
Yes, and we will continue to pay referral and advisory fees, if the appropriate authorization is received, as applicable.
How will the acquisition affect billing?
There will be no changes to billing for active Accrue plans.
There will be no changes to billing for active Gusto 401(k) plans and fees may still be charged for new Gusto 401(k) plans (including an advisor fee, if applicable). As a reminder, companies with any payroll provider can sign up for Gusto 401(k) – however, for non-Gusto / Gusto Embedded payroll, it will be a self-service experience.
Will the Guideline Pro and sponsor logins remain the same?
Yes, you will have the same login and access to the Guideline Pro dashboard. Clients with Gusto payroll can now use Gusto Single Sign-On (SSO) to access their dashboard at my.guideline.com, or they can continue using Guideline credentials to access their account if separate login experience is preferred. When logging into your accounts, you will notice that it will soon look and feel like Gusto.
Our firm doesn’t work with Gusto payroll, can we still work with Guideline?
We would like to continue to work with you for any 401(k) leads and proposals for plans. Please note that if your client uses Gusto payroll or any of the Gusto Embedded Payroll partners (e.g., HR For Health or HiBob) – they will continue to have an integrated 401(k) experience. For all other payroll providers – it will be a self-service 401(k) experience.
Will clients’ pricing change?
At this time, clients’ pricing will remain the same.
