When you complete a transaction from your Guideline account that requires funds to be sent to you via an ACH transfer, you might notice a discrepancy between the last four digits of the account number displayed and your actual banking information. If the bank account you provided for the ACH transfer is a Chase or PNC account, this variance is entirely expected and not a cause for concern.
Chase and PNC use a security measure called tokenization whenever an account holder shares their account information with a third-party service. This security feature is designed to protect your sensitive banking information by replacing your actual account number with a unique, randomly generated token. This token functions as a substitute for your real account number, allowing transactions to be processed securely without exposing your true banking details.
How does tokenization work with Guideline?
Once you enter your Chase or PNC banking account information into your Guideline dashboard, your account number will automatically be tokenized. As a result, the account number displayed within your Guideline dashboard and confirmation emails will differ from the actual account number associated with your Chase or PNC bank account.
This discrepancy is solely due to the implementation of your bank’s security feature and does not impact the ability of Guideline to complete your ACH transfers. Your funds will still be deposited into your designated banking account without issue, despite the difference in the displayed account number.
How can I confirm the information provided is accurate?
To ensure that Guideline has the correct information for your ACH transfer, please carefully enter and verify your banking details when prompted in your dashboard.
Guideline cannot turn off the tokenization feature or verify your banking details, as we do not have access to your actual account number. If you have questions about your tokenized account number, please contact Chase or PNC directly.
