What happens to my Guideline 401(k) account if I leave my company?

If you found a new job, were laid off, fired, or left your employer for any other reason, here are your options for your 401(k).

If you are no longer employed with the company that sponsored your Guideline 401(k) account, you have the following options:

When deciding whether to keep your Guideline account open long-term or transfer your funds to another account, you should consider all associated fees. We recommend reviewing Guideline’s participant fees and comparing them against the fees charged by other providers to determine whether keeping your Guideline account is the right choice for you.

How to update your account information

You’ll want to ensure your contact information is up to date in your Guideline account, so we can continue to communicate with you. Maintaining correct contact details will also ensure you do not lose access to your account, particularly if you are using your previous work email address to log in.

To update your contact information, click on your name in the top right corner of your dashboard. Select Account settings in the drop-down menu, then click “Edit” in the Your information section.
