How to request that a check be reissued for a distribution or rollover
Updated over 11 months ago

If you (or your new provider) are unable to locate your mailed check after receiving an email that your funds were released, or you received a check but need check details updated, our representatives can help you reprocess your distribution.

To start the process, contact our Participant Support Team by submitting a ticket here.

Our Support Team will help process a stop payment on the previously issued check. Once the stop payment has been confirmed, we will begin processing a new request.

Stopping payment prior to reissue

Before a check can be reissued, Guideline will need to ensure that the existing check cannot be used. To accomplish this, we will need to process a stop payment on that check. This process can take 7-15 business days. Once the stop payment has been verified, a new check will be issued.

Requesting a new check with the same payee information

If the payee information remains the same, you will not need to complete any additional forms. Guideline will issue a new check, which you can expect to receive within approximately 12 business days.

The entire processing time generally takes around 22 business days to be completed.

Requesting a new check with different payee information

If you are requesting a new check with different payee information, processing times will increase, as there will be additional steps the custodian must take to retrieve the funds.

These requests can take up to 15 business days to complete the stop payment and retrieval of funds process. During this period, Guideline must first return funds back to the plan’s trust account before payment can be reissued.

When the stop payment process completes, you will be required to submit a new distribution request. A member of our Support Team will guide you through this process. The time it takes to reissue a check after the stop payment request has been fulfilled will be around 17 business days.

You can expect the entire processing time, from beginning to end, to complete in around 32 business days.
